Meet the 2024 Challengers
Aqua-Cell Energy builds giant salt-water batteries to power the transition to clean energy. We store solar energy into batteries for 12-24h for electricity distribution utilities and factories to power the grid during peak times to save $3M/yr/MW. These customers are part of an $11B medium scale energy storage market that few storage companies are going after. We have a paid pilot lined up next year that will lead to $15M in revenue, and our team of 5 has scaled to be the fastest flow battery to de-risk our full scale stack in <6mo and <$200k by leveraging existing supply chains. We’re about to launch a $2M fundraising round to deploy our first shipping container battery on a customer site.
Spar Power Technologies features an energy storage system using hybrid supercapacitors. This technology offers following benefits:
1. Safe, no risk of thermal runaway
2. Long live > 250, 000 cycles
3. Extended temperature range -40 to +65 deg. C
4. >6C, charge and surcharge rates
5. Environmental friendly, using activated carbon
pH7 Technologies uses solvometallurgy to refine critical metals. This enables a low-cost, sustainable supply of PGMs, copper, tin, gold and more. Our proprietary technology can be deployed to extract metals from scrap (urban mining) or from primary sources such as concentrates and tails from mines.
Our patent pending process revolutionizes metal refining, by using a proprietary lixiviant to extract metals from low grade feedstocks, which can be ores, concentrates or scrap. The lixiviant is regenerated during the process, thereby significantly reducing reagent costs and waste disposal. The byproducts created from our process, including green hydrogen, can be utilized to generate additional revenue or optimize net energy consumption.
TROES Corp is a Canadian company that specializes in developing Battery Energy Storage and Microgrid Control technology for the mid-market, which is often neglected or poorly serviced. Their unique offering includes a proprietary software platform and modularized energy storage hardware, providing a comprehensive solution for project developers. As a result, TROES can reduce project costs by 35% and development time by 40%. The company has already deployed systems to seven countries and is now focusing on supporting EV charger demand. TROES has an impressive project pipeline of over $50 million, each generating recurring revenue for 10-20 years. They also offer a 4-in-1 software solution that combines simulation, monitoring, asset management, and operational functions, allowing small and medium-sized project developers to pursue projects independently, eliminating middlemen. This will enable faster roll-out of microgrid projects, facilitating the transition to a 21st-century energy world driven by decarbonization, electrification, and resilience.
